HEKstar 293 is a chemically defined, protein-free and animal component-free expression medium developed specifically for stable batch and fed-batch expression processes in HEK293 suspension cultures.

The formulation supports reliable suspension adaptation and high productivity, delivering consistently robust performance with viabilities above 90%. HEKstar 293 enables reproducible results from early process development to large-scale bioreactor production.

HEKstar 293 is primarily designed for stable HEK293 cell lines and high-yield recombinant protein production. In addition, the medium can be used for pilot-scale transient transfection experiments during process development, where maximum expression levels are not the primary focus.

HEKstar 293 is part of the HEKstar 293 Media System and can be combined with the corresponding feeding supplements Feed A and Feed B to establish efficient and flexible batch and fed-batch cultivation processes.
